Backlist Review: The Raven Boys (The Raven Cycle #1) by Maggie Stiefvater

Rereading this was like coming home to something I didn’t know I had missed. I originally read this series a couple years ago and fell in love with the characters, the narrator and the atmosphere of the book. While there is a plot, this more of a character driven story than anything.

I absolutely love these characters and they’re all so precious to me, I need to protect them. I love the way the story is told from a sort of omniscient POV and we get to see the thoughts of several characters throughout the story. However, I’d say Blue definitely gets the most page time. Growing up in a house full of psychics, Blue is one of the most fascinating and realistic characters I’ve read about. She is very down to earth about who she is and what she wants.

This is a story full of ghosts, trees that can talk, ley lines and the search for a dead king. It was such a crazy and addicting story, but I absolutely loved it. Now I want to listen to the rest of them.
