1. Favorite Book of All Time
Wow, this is such a tough one!! I have so many favorites, but it’s got to be hands down The Girl of Fire & Thorns by Rae Carson. Elisa was the first MC I could truly see myself in because she wasn’t some skinny little blonde girl like a lot of other YA fantasy books. Nothing against skinny blonde girls either, I am just neither of those things haha.
2. Favorite Book Five Years Ago
My reading tastes have changed so much within the last 5-10 years and it’s hard to even remember what I was reading in 2015! I do have a goodreads shelf but I’d rather not sort through 100+ books. I have loved Alanna: The First Adventure by Tamora Pierce for as long as I can remember though. My mom read them when I was small and I’ve had fond memories ever since.
3. Favorite Duology/Trilogy/Series
Duology: Warcross by Marie Lu
Trilogy: The Bone Witch by Rin Chupeco
Quartet: Seven Realms by Cinda Williams Chima
4. Last Book You Read
This was my #1/2 anticipated read of 2020 and man A Heart so Fierce and Broken did NOT disappoint! I desperately need the third and final book.
5. Last Book of Poetry You Read
I honestly have no idea. While I don’t hate poetry or anything, it’s not something I read a lot of either. I’m guessing the last one was some kind of book told in verse, but I really don’t want to sort through my 1,000+ read books on Goodreads to find out. Sorry!!
6. What Book Most Influenced Your Life
Another hard question, what is with these?! I don’t know if I could solidly pin down what one book has most influenced my life. I started a shelf on Goodreads a couple years ago called “Changed My Life” and it includes books that have made me think or question ingrained judgements I have. It’s also kind of a favorites shelf too. One book that definitely influenced me was Tomorrow Will be Different by Sarah McBride. I really enjoyed this political memoir and I hope to read others that are similar.
7. Book That Made You Ugly Cry
There are several books that have made me cry. And that is a feat in and of itself. Lately though, my emotions like to flow right out of my eyes. The worst offender is The Weight of the Stars by K. Ancrum. I was such a mess that last 20-30 pages. I had to go smoosh my cat and he did NOT appreciate that. Another book that comes to mind is The Last Letter by Rebecca Yarros which made me cry several times, including while I was attempting to write my review.
8. Book That Made You Laugh
I’m sure there’s one I’ve read more recently, but I’m going to say The Selection by Kiera Cass. I read these books when I lived with my parents and my dad kept bothering me and asking What’s so funny while I was reading. While the dystopian aspect does get more serious within the series, overall, it was such a fun and adorable read that I remembering laughing my way through.
9. Character You’d Like to Be for a Day
I would love to be Queen Aelin Ashryver Galathynius for a day. YES PLEASE. I could see Terrasen and bother Rowan and all the other characters I love. Plus being Queen sounds stressful so I don’t think I’d want to do it for more than a day.
10. Book so Good You Dreamed About it
Dreams are weird and I usually don’t remember mine. I’ve definitely had a few where I wrote a completely new story in it which is always interesting. I feel like I’ve dreamed about The Raven Cycle at some point in my life, though details are fuzzy. If you’ve read this series, then you’d know how this series of all them fits being in a dream world.
11. Book You DNFed
I don’t actually DNF books anymore. I can listen to an audiobook at 3x, so I’d rather completely finish a book and know for sure that the whole thing was awful, instead of constantly wondering. That being said, there are a couple books I started years ago and only made it a little bit into. They’re on my Started Reading shelf so I WILL eventually finish them, especially Pride & Prejudice. I made it halfway, I HAVE to finish that one.
12. What Book are You Excited to Read
If you saw my Anticipated Reads post last week, you’d know the answer is hands down The Empire of Dreams, since I read my other #1 book. Since I can’t read that this month, I’d say either Ashlords or One of Us is Next!
