Kit Davenport has had a traumatic past, but it’s made her stronger. She’s finally a senior at Cascade Falls Academy and is ready to be done with school. Kit also has an alternative identity as The Fox, a master thief, with her best friend Lucy. When Kit accidentally brings a tracker and mysterious files that might explain why she has certain abilities back from a job, her life gets more complicated than she’d ever imagine.
This is the first reverse harem I’ve read, but damn did I enjoy it! Kit was so easy to like, even if she was a bit naive at times. I enjoyed the supernatural element to this book and I’m eager to learn more about Kit and Blood Moon laboratories. Her friendship with Lucy was goals. I loved how Lucy knew how much mischief to get Kit into with the guys.
I was surprised with how much I enjoyed seeing Kit with all of these guys. It was a bit ridiculous that all of them were super hot, muscular, AND under 25, but whatever. Let’s talk about the guys:
River: The team’s alpha, super sexy Brit who knows what he wants. River can be a bit of a control freak, but it’s to protect his team.
Cole: dark, dangerous and broody, he’s my fave. I loved how Cole was hard to read. He presented such a mysterious front and I was a sucker for it.
Caleb: the sweet and flirty twin. Kit meets Caleb (and Austin) first and they develop a friendship that had the potential to become more. Superb cuddler.
Austin: the angry and mean twin. Austin clearly had some sort of baggage and was projecting it onto Kit. But I think he does care about it despite his cruel and crotchety demeanor.
Wesley: the introverted soft and sweet tech hacker. I’m not sure I ship him with Kit yet?? He spent a majority of his conversations with her blushing which was adorable, but I also wanted him to team up with Lucy?? We shall see.
I read this book incredibly fast for me. I was surprised how quickly I finished and I need to read the second one ASAP. It was so easy to get sucked into the world and I was constantly intrigued. There are also a number of great lines that made me die with laughter. The mystery of Kit’s past was fascinating as well, I can’t wait to see more of this supernatural world.
A couple things bothered me though. There was some unnecessary repetitive sentences. I know I saw the exact same sentence a couple times. There were also several lines that made me groan and roll my eyes with how cliche they were. The first time we got one of the guy’s POVs I was incredibly confused. We’d only met Caleb & Austin at that point so it was hard to understand what was going on. After we met the whole team, it made a lot more sense.
Overall, a fast and very enjoyable read. Excited for book 2!
